Research platform of the Belarusian contemporary art

Collection (ZBOR). Constructing an archive – exhibition in Białystok (Poland)

August 28th, 2015 – October 8th, 2015

Arsenal Gallery in Bialystok (Poland)

Exhibition of Belarusian art within the festival of The East of Culture / Another Dimension Festival (Wschód Kultury / Inny Wymiar)

The exhibition Collection (ZBOR). Constructing an archive presents the result of the efforts made by the research platform of the Belarusian contemporary art KALEKTAR. In the beginning of 2015, the resource called ZBOR was launched by the platform kalektar.org. ZBOR is a constantly updated magazine-archive containing information about the oeuvres of Belarusian artists, collectives and institutions, as well as significant phenomena in Belarusian contemporary art.

The exhibition represents the section of artistic experience of the Belarusian contemporary art from 1980s until present days through 40 selected works and their short descriptions and reproductions. All the selected works are some of the key statements, which to a certain extent predetermined the development of various Belarusian contemporary art movements. The curators of the project and the invited experts have collected the works in such a way, so as to demonstrate artistic strategies of several artists’ generations on a broader scale, as well as to fix crucial cultural and political events in Belarus.
